It’s been the EP we’ve all been waiting for, and now we’re so happy to finally have the songs playing out our speakers. The lovely real-life couple, Richie Sambora and Orianthi, have teamed up for their first ever EP. Going as RSO – the initials of their names – they have released a five-track EP titled Rise.
Richie Sambora is best known for being the lead guitarist of Bon Jovi for 30 years. He left the band in 2013. He has released three solo studio albums, the latest being in 2012. His most-known solo song is his debut single “Ballad Of Youth” which was released in 1991 where it charted at number 63 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 59 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.
As for his partner, Orianthi started her career as part of Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour. She went on to have her own solo career where she released three studio albums and many singles. Her debut, “According To You”, is still one of our favourite jams, and managed to chart in many countries, including number eight on Australia’s ARIA Chart and number three on the Japan Hot 100 Chart. She has also collaborated with the likes of Steven Tyler, Lacey Sturm, and David Garrett. She went on to become a guitarist for Alice Cooper.
Now it looks like this guitar power couple are ready to release music as a duo, and we’ve been ready for a long time. There have been many live videos of them performing together on stage, released on YouTube, which certainly had us wishing for this duo to release music; it was totally worth the wait because RSO is here with a killer debut EP.
Listen To Richie Sambora & Orianthi (RSO) Rise EP Here:
Containing five tracks – or if you buy from their official store, you get an additional sixth track – Rise EP is everything we wanted and more. It has a brilliant rhythm that truly compliments their voices.
Title track “Rise” is also the opening song that kickstarts this brilliant EP off. It has that old-style of rock that is missing from current songs, whilst keeping it current and original. It’s quite the anthem of a tune with a brilliant beat; Richie Sambora and Orianthi impress with their harmonies. This leads perfectly into “Masterpiece” which is more of a ballad that shows off their voices; it has a serene sound to it that is full of so much meaning and emotion. If there’s one track we could choose to have a music video, it’ll be this one; it’s pure gold.
“Truth” is the third track; it starts off with a piano with an awesome harmony. Another ballad but much softer and just as emotional. Full of so much meaning, RSO have seriously worked so hard on these songs and they’ve come off polished and perfect. So honest, so true, so beautiful; it’s an uplifting loving song which really contrasts brilliantly with Orianthi’s “How Do You Sleep?” which has a similar sound.
The two final tracks complete this EP. “Take Me” has warm night western feel to it with Richie Sambora taking over the lead vocals. His raspy voice is enchanting throughout that really hits us deep inside. Then “Good Times” ends the EP in a nice rhythmic groove. RSO interchange the lyrics, singing it perfectly together stating they’re going to have a good time without certain people. This one has an additional rap verse from K-OS who really switches the song up.
It’s no wonder that the bonus track is a reggae remix of “Good Times”; K-OS’s verse really allows this track to have an awesome reggae vibe. Both songs are total bangers, ones we would totally be listening to at a beach party. You need to buy this EP from their official store to hear this brilliant remix; we totally encourage you to do that now!
As a whole this EP is something we’ve been waiting for, for some time; yet, it was totally worth the wait. Not only are Richie Sambora and Orianthi a great power couple, but they create amazing music that we can’t stop listening to. This isn’t the only release from RSO this year; that’s right, they plan on releasing a second project this year, with a full LP released in 2018. RSO is here to stay and we can’t wait to hear more music!
