Katie Zereski, a certified personal trainer at The Fitness Asylum, passed away on April 4th, 2023. She died at the age of 51 after fighting a long battle with cancer. Katie was a resident of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and is survived by her children, Kenzie and Zach.
Katie Zereski was born on September 2, 1971, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her parents were Catherine and Don Zereski, Sr.
She completed her education from Nichols College, where she earned a B.S. in Marketing and International Business. Katie was a cheerleader in high school and college and also ran tools for the college rugby team. She had two children, McKenzie and Zachary Johnson, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her family in North Falmouth, MA, shopping, fishing, and going to her favorite beach.
Katie worked in marketing for several companies, including Devon and Cornwall Development International, Ultranet Communications, RCN Corporation, Conversent Communications, Connecticut Telephone, and the Wellesley Companies. However, her true calling was in exercise, and she became a qualified personal trainer at The Fitness Asylum. She helped many people achieve their fitness goals.
Katie was not only a fitness enthusiast, but she also inspired and helped others. She was instrumental in getting the age for colonoscopies lowered to 45 years old. She also started her podcast to help people dealing with cancer and life. Katie wanted to do more in life, but her illness did not allow her to fulfill her goals.

A Memorial Mass for Katie Zereski will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury, MA, on April 12th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, people can make donations to the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
