Chris Benoit was one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever stepped foot inside the squared circle. He made his mark all over the world in various pro wrestling companies. Sadly, the tragic way his life ended soured any legacy he left in the ring. Even Matt Hardy recalled how The Undertaker reacted to his death, and he will never forget it.

Benoit was at the top of his game after winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 20. It has become irrelevant now, after that shocking double-murder suicide, which saw the deaths of his wife and child.

During The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy recalled how The Undertaker reacted to Chris Benoit’s death. This was a terrible time for WWE, and The Undertaker, as a locker room leader, was certainly informed of this tragic news before the rest of the roster.

“They had this talent meeting, they call everyone together. I’ll never forget I saw ‘Taker coming out slowly, walking out to where all the crowd was gathered around.’ I saw Michelle McCool like, crying. I remember turning to Ken Kennedy and going, ‘Chris is dead.’ I saw Undertaker and Michelle coming and Undertaker would’ve been given the heads up and Michelle’s just so upset, I thought ‘he’s gotta be dead.’

Chris Benoit will never be in the WWE Hall of Fame, and he was washed from WWE History. After taking the lives of his wife and son before ending his own life, Benoit was seen as a monster, but he was also one of the best pro wrestlers alive during his time on this earth. Regardless, he will always be a controversial name, because others will still debate that The Wolverine is still one of the greatest pro wrestlers to ever live.
