Alicia Silverstone is best known for her role as fashion-forward popular girl Cher Horowitz in the 1995 film, Clueless. The film received positive reviews from critics and helped launch the careers of many of Clueless‘ young stars. Nearly 20 years after the film’s release, Horowitz has become a fixture in pop culture and legacy continues to live on. In 2014, rapper Iggy Azalea, themed the music video for her hit song, “Fancy” around Cher Horowitz and the film. Silverstone, who thanked Iggy for the tribute to the 90s queen, has enjoyed a career that has lasted for more than 20 years, and she continues to work today. Her roles include a wide array of characters which has allowed her to show her range as an actress. 5. Excessive Baggage
In 1997’s Excessive Baggage, Silverstone played the role of Emily Hope, a young woman who faked her own kidnapping to get her father’s attention. Although the movie received mostly negative reviews from critics, it has become a favorite among Silverstone’s fans.
4. Beauty Shop
In the 2006 film, Beauty Shop, Silverstone starred alongside Queen Latifah as a hairdresser in a beauty salon. Although Silverstone’s character, was the only white person in an all-black beauty shop, she ended up fitting great with customers and co-workers.
3. Cool and the Crazy
In this made-for-TV movie, Silverstone played a teenager named Roslyn who grows up and marries during the 50s. When Roslyn becomes pregnant at 19, her happy marriage takes a turn for the worst, and her and husband Michael (Jared Leto) behind to drift apart
2. Batman and Robin
The 90s was a great decade for Silverstone. She somehow managed to go from playing clueless Cher Horowitz, to playing one of the most popular female superheros of all-time, Batgirl.
1. The Crush
Before Clueless, The Crush was probably Silverstone’s most noteworthy film. She starred as Adrian Forrestor, a young girl who develops a crush on an older man and eventually loses control when he doesn’t return her advances. The film earned Silverstone two MTV Movie Awards including one for Best Breakthrough Performance.
