The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that Don Diamont (Bill Spencer) recently reflected on an amazing 35 years in daytime television. Diamont started out playing Carlo Forenza on Days of Our Lives before heading to The Young and the Restless, where he played Brad Carlton. The popular soap actor ultimately made his way over to B&B as “Dollar Bill” and the rest is history!
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Diamont talked about how tough it was to get the boot at Y&R. Although he was fired from the role of Brad and departed in 2009, there was certainly a silver lining. “But in hindsight, it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Diamont admitted.
Diamont suggested that’s because it led him to The Bold and the Beautiful, where he was given a character that the show really invested in. B&B Executive Producer and Head Writer Bradley Bell served a champion for Diamont.
“He created Bill Spencer for me, and he told me he had a lot tied up in it,” Diamont said. “He really wanted this character to be successful, so I came out with guns blazing to have Bill be everything he wanted and more. It was exhilarating.”
Diamont offered plenty of praise for his main leading ladies, Heather Tom (Katie Logan) and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester). The Bold and the Beautiful star also mentioned his TV sons, Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) and Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer). This family may be fictional, but the love is real – and that leads to tons of laughs on set as well as off.
How does Diamont feel about the Spencer dynasty that’s formed around Bill? Diamont insisted he’s proud to be a part of that. Watching Bill spawn a family and create a lasting legacy has meant a lot to the B&B actor. “I don’t take it for granted, and all of their success is my success, and vice versa,” Diamont said.
